We are proud to announce Second Cups's first annual Dash'n for Compassion raised over $16,000.00 in support of the Compassion House Foundation.

On May 12th Second Cup held their very first half marathon and 10K fun run at the Saville Sports Centre and Foote Field in support of the Compassion House Foundation. We welcomed over 250 racers for which we were told “is an excellent beginning for a future annual event” says Randy Belyea, Edmonton North Area Manger of the Running Room. “You should be prepared for that number to double next year based on the success of the day” reports Tim Lo, Events Coordinator for the Running Room. The feedback from runners, volunteers and organizers was overall exceptional. Although there are a few kinks to work out for next year we could not be more thrilled to have held such an amazing first time event.

We received several encouraging emails from racers who were very impressed with the event like Rebecca Jones; “I have run many ½ marathons over the years and you have done a swell job of organizing this one. It was a tough but enjoyable course with the greatest volunteers who I saw repeatedly throughout the run (no doubt due to the lack of volunteers). They were so enthusiastic. The tremendous amount of food at the finish line was terrific but then you had to top it off by giving us a yummy hot brunch too. I ran a personal best and then almost ate a personal best on top of that.”

We had wonderful weather, outstanding volunteers and tremendous community support.
