We are recruiting a temporary (12 weeks with the possibility of extension), part time housekeeper - 30 hours/week.
The Housekeeper is responsible for the day-to-day cleanliness of Sorrentino’s Compassion House.
1. Cleaning - The Housekeeper is required to ensure all common areas, staff offices, common washrooms, laundry rooms and supply rooms are kept washed, vacuumed and orderly. This includes walls, cupboards, windows, blinds, freezers, fridges, stoves, microwaves, dishwashers, washers and dryers. Emptying garbage bins. Housekeeper will wash all kitchen towels and re-stock and wash and dry other items as needed. - The Housekeeper is expected to keep all bedrooms deep cleaned when a guest checks out. This includes dusting, cleaning the floors, washing walls, deep cleaning bedrooms, moving all furniture to clean, washing all linens and towels.
2. Guest Liaison - The Housekeeper ensures a healthy relationship with guests is maintained by being available should one of them require assistance with supplies or cleaning and directs guests to the appropriate staff member when necessary. - The Housekeeper is to ensure Guest Services staff are kept apprised of any relevant guest information that would be considered significant to maintaining good relations and support.

Working Conditions - Sorrentino’s Compassion House provides accommodation for women undergoing cancer treatment. All staff must display caring and compassion and possess emotional maturity, discretion and can respect the dignity and rights of guests, volunteers, and other staff members. Keeping confidentiality is of the utmost importance.
Physical Demands - Ability to lift up to 30 pounds and be able to complete housekeeping physical requirements, such as mopping, bed making and bathroom cleaning. Ability to move furniture around to clean.
Security Clearance - All employees and volunteers who work within Sorrentino’s Compassion House must complete a Police Information Check for Employment in a Vulnerable Sector. The check must be done prior to being employed.
Hours of Work 30 hours per week – Six hour shifts during the day on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday. There is some flexibility with the start time. The position term is 12 weeks with the possibility of extension.
